Chana Pulao


Ingredients:

1/4 cup Chickpeas
200g Rice
1  onion  
1 1/2tbsp garam masala
1tsp red chilli powder
1tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 1/2tsp cumin seeds
2 bay leaves
salt
oil

Preparations:
  • Soak chickpeas for min 5hrs or overnight.Boil them until soft.Save the water in which chickpeas are boiled.
  • slice onion.
  • wash and soak rice.
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and bay leaves.
  2. As cumin starts spluttering add onion and fry until light brown.
  3. Net add ginger garlic paste,garam masala and red chilli powder and fry for few sec.
  4. Now add boiled chickpeas along with water and let it boil for 2,3 min.
  5. Now add strained rice and mix well and let it be for 2min.
  6. Add 2 measures of water to 1 measure of rice close the pan with lid and let it cook on medium flame.
  7. When it is half cooked keep the flame on low and cook until it is done completely.
  8. Turn of the flame and serve after few minutes with any vegetable masala curry like Potato Masala Curry or nonveg curry and Raitha.

Potato Masala Curry

Ingredients

300g potatoes(baby potatoes)
2 medium onions
2 tomatoes
1tbsp ginger garlic paste
1tsp turmeric powder
1tbsp coriander powder
1tbsp red chilli powder
1tbsp garam masala powder
2 bayleaves

paste
1tbsp poppy seeds
2tbsp coconut powder(fresh coconut)
few cashewnuts

Preparations

  • boil potatoes,peel the skin and half them.
  • finely chop onions and tomatoes
  • powder the ingredients under paste and then add water little by little to grind them to a fine paste.
Procedure:
  1. heat oil in a pan add bay leaves,onions and let them fry.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste,tomatoes,turmeric powder,coriander powder,chilli powder and salt.Mix them and let them cook until tomatoes becomes soft with closed lid.
  3. Add little water if required in between so the it don't get burned out.
  4. Now add garam masala powder and prepared cashew paste.Mix everything with little water.Close the lid and let it cook until oil oozes out.
